Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission Recycling Guide

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program in Albert

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is the next evolution in Alberta's recycling system that ultimately saves Alberta'sns money and sees less waste end up in landfills.

EPR is operated and managed by the Alberta's Recycling Management Authority (ARMA). ERP takes the financial burden of recycling single-use plastics, paper and packaging and shifts it onto the companies that produce them. It diversifies the economy by encouraging companies to find innovative ways to recycle more materials and produce less packaging waste.

Alberta's EPR empowers producers to

  • create local recycling markets and improve community access
  • design cost-effective and efficient recycling programs
  • demonstrate environmental responsibility
